I'm walking 30 miles in September.

I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Staithes

Wednesday 24th Sep
Visited Staithes yesterday. What a pretty village and well worth the walk from the car park. Downhill to village, very steep uphill walk back to the car. A very pretty fishing village for those who haven’t been. I can feel a couple of paintings coming on,

A better Day in Whitby

Sunday 21st Sep
After yesterday’s drive through torrential rain we were pleased to find Whitby dry if overcast this morning, with sunshine promised later. Took the park and ride  down into the town, breakfast in the Lounge and then a walk around the old town and harbour. Hopping for more sunshine and less wind tomorrow and maybe some brighter pictures to follow.

Monday 8th-Friday 12th September 2025

Friday 12th Sep
A fairly hectic week starting with a sail to Ipswich. Walks around the wet dock to see a replica of Christopher Columbus’s ship and the three masted topsail schooner Oosterschelde easily more than a mile. Wednesdays and Thursdays logged walks mainly around dog walking but also to have a haircut. Friday went model sailing and very surprised to see that walking up and down the lake totalled 1.65 miles.

Saturday 6th

Sunday 7th Sep
We were afloat for part of the day but before leaving Shotley I walked further than expected with the dog. Regrettably, not logged as I didn’t take my phone! Later had a family walk with the dog of just over a mile, but that one is logged, so all is well.

2nd September. Morning Dog Walk

Tuesday 2nd Sep
Smashing walk on the Greensward at Frinton, with a short diversion for a coffee  in Connaught Avenue. Beautiful sunny morning, a bit breezy but still warm 1.07 M.

1st September

Monday 1st Sep
It’s the first day of the challenge and I’ve taken the dog for two walks totalling 1.43 miles according to Strava. A quiet day, waiting for the boiler service engineer, so expect to walk further  most days.
