I’m taking part in the November Swim Challenge for Dementia UK and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.
£33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

First 2400 metres!
Saturday 1st Nov The pool was so warm today, I did 2 hours-I can’t keep count of lengths so I have worked out I do 20 metres per minute ( I always do an extra 15 mins just for me and to make up for any shortcomings on my behalf) so that 2,400 metres for today! Believe it or not swimming is the easy part, getting dressed after is the challenge-I had to call for assistance to get my top unraveled at the back! Getting dressed in Lycra is a definite no no without a carer!
Focus on what we can do!
Friday 24th Oct We can’t walk very far and we can’t run 😂😂! But we can swim! Jackie has always loved swimming- I never did as hated getting my hair wet! On a recent holiday I said I would swim for an hour a day ( too much Gin). Jackie said she’d join me (now I’ve done it). So we did this for 2 weeks. On our return to England Jackie was eager to continue at our local pool - Me, not so🫣! Something really weird happened- I enjoyed it, even when I forgot my knickers - it did not deter me! 😂 So long story short since 2nd August we have been swimming 3 or more times a week! I have fallen in love with swimming - when I saw this challenge and Jackie agreed we should do it! And here we are, we’re doing it!
