I'm walking 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK

This September, I'm walking 30 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

30 Miles for My Nan ❤️

Tuesday 25th Aug
This September, I’m taking on a challenge that is very close to my heart — I’m walking 30 miles
throughout September to raise money for Dementia UK.
I’ve chosen Dementia UK because dementia has touched my family personally. My nan had
dementia, and I saw the devastating effect it had on her and on the people who loved her.
As her dementia progressed, there came a point where she no longer recognised anyone.
Eventually, she lost her speech too.
That is something that has stayed with me.
It is incredibly difficult watching someone you love gradually lose pieces of themselves. The
person is still there, but dementia can slowly take away memories, words, independence and,
sometimes, the ability to recognise the people who mean the most to them.
For families, it can be heartbreaking, frightening and exhausting. And yet, amongst all of that,
there are still moments of love, connection and precious memories that you hold onto.
My nan is one of the reasons I want to do this challenge.
So, throughout September, I’ll be putting one foot in front of the other and walking 30 miles to
raise as much money as I can for Dementia UK.
Thirty miles might not sound like a huge distance to some people, but for me, every mile will
have a meaning behind it.
Every walk will be a reminder of my nan.
Every mile will be for the families living with dementia today.
And every donation, no matter how big or small, could help Dementia UK provide vital support
to people affected by dementia.
I know times are difficult for everyone at the moment, so I completely understand that not
everyone is able to donate. Even sharing my fundraising page, encouraging me, or simply
following along with my 30-mile challenge would mean so much to me.
But if you are able to spare a few pounds, I would be incredibly grateful.
This one is for my nan.
30 miles.
1 September.
1 very personal reason.
Please help me turn every step into something positive for families affected by dementia.
Thank you for supporting me — and for helping me remember my nan in the best way I
can.
