I'm taking part in the November Swim Challenge

Hello all

I’m taking part in the November Swim Challenge for Dementia UK and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I will swim a minimum of 15K (600 lengths of my local pool) during this November and  I would be grateful for your support.

£33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

It’s for a great cause so please donate whatever you can.

Sunday 30th Nov
A busy week so only had time for one session so tried to make it a doozy.
Friday 28/11    5k (3.11 miles) 200 lengths 1 hour 50 mins.
That’s a grand total of 24.3k or 15.1 miles.
All sessions have been front crawl and continuos.
It’s been a while since I swam 200 lengths in one go and it was challenging. With 15 lengths to go I started to get cramp in my right calf and my arms had nothing left, was running on empty. So I hope you feel you got your money’s worth!!
Personally it has helped me get back into swimming and I hope to be back where I was in about 3 months.
More importantly, collectively you have raised £580 for Dementia UK. To put that into perspective thats:
18 hours of specialist dementia support from an Admiral Nurse for families.
So well done you should be pleased with yourselves.

Week 3

Sunday 23rd Nov
Hello, 
This week I completed three sessions.
17/11 2.9 kms  (114 lengths)
18/11 2.6 kms (104 lengths)
21/11 3.0 kms (120 lengths)
Thats 8.5 kms.
So far the total is 19.3 kms.
To recap the challenge was to do 15 kms in November so that has been achieved.
However, I know some of you are…shall we say,‘close’ to your money and like to get value for money.  So as the challenge was ‘swim for Dementia UK in November’ I will keep this page open for the final tally until next week and send you a final closing blog.

Week 2

Saturday 15th Nov
Not a great week I’m afraid.
Only managed one session on Thursday 13/11. 
100 lengths 2.5K. That’s a total of 10.8K so far.
Unfortunately I had tummy trouble. I will spare you the details  but a swimming pool is not where you want to be or other swimmers want you to be with tummy trouble. Enough said.
So onward to next week.

One week down

Friday 7th Nov
Hello
So for context. I am doing this by lane swimming. I wanted to start at a slower pace and build my up confidence  this week.
Each lane session is 55/60 mins long. I have completed four session this week as below.
Monday  - 1.6 k (64 lengths ) 40 mins
Tuesday - 2k (80 lengths) 50 mins
Thursday - 2.1k (84 lengths) 50 mins
Friday - 2.6k (104 lengths) 60 mins
So a total of 8.3 K so far.
As I said to most of you I cant prove I’ve done what I’ve said but if you want to see my swim bookings  I can show you and you are more than welcome to come and watch . 
I’m rather knackered so weekend rest up and see what next week brings.

Sunday 2nd Nov
Hello all,
This is my first blog….well …for anything.
I intend to start my swimming campaign tomorrow.
It’s been 4/5 months since I last swam and I have put on many  pounds  so I am a little apprehensive.  
I’ve asked for an oxygen tent and paramedics to be standing by.
I’ll keep you posted. …or is it blogged?
