I'm walking 62 miles in May
I’m walking 62 miles in May and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.
An £8 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.
Thank you!

On the road but still walking ….
Friday 23rd May

Almost at 75% of target now
Monday 19th May Well, we are now back in Somerset, so rather than the coast path of Devon I have been walking the lovely lanes near home, filled with the smell of wild garlic and the sound of spring birdsong. I’ve had to take a couple of days off walking in the last week due to soreness of an arthritic big toe joint, but that thankfully that seems to have eased a bit over the past couple of days when I’ve extended the length to walk 5.5 miles and 4 today, so I am still ahead of schedule. Day 5 Update
Monday 5th May Well it’s Day 5, Bank Holiday Monday, and I’ve been looking to do at least 2 miles every day. After doing the Bolberry ParkRun on Saturday with Sarah and Dex, which was three laps totalling 3.65 miles (according to Strava), I’ve been doing two laps for the last couple of days. The course is partly on the South West coast path and the views are spectacular, and so has the wind been! 😃
Fundraising for Dementia
Wednesday 30th Apr Last year in June I walked well over 60 miles for Dementia UK and some very kind family and friends supported me by donating to this vey worthy cause. This year the cause feels even more poignant as Mum has gone into a care home recently which specialises in Dementia, after being cared for at home for several years. It is an awful condition which gradually removes the identity and memories of loved ones, and their ability to be independent. We are fortunate that Mum is very happy and relatively easy to care for, but for others the condition is not so kind, even brutal, and the challenges for care are very great.Thank you to my Sponsors

I’m hoping to raise more than £310 but felt that raising £5 for every mile I will walk (62 is the target and hope to exceed that) would be a modest but reasonable target. 🙏

Gill was very kind to us when we moved into the village in 1984. She invited us to a Philips Norton Players party in her garden and we were able to meet lots of neighbours. We were soon members of the Players ourselves! Great memories… Thanks Gill, what a spark!

Good luck my friend - great cause. My mummy is still here in the physical sense but this cruel disease has locked her away from us all - it’s very sad. Love to you both.
