We are walking 62 Miles in October
This October, Katie and Ted are walking 62 miles to raise £100 for Dementia UK — a charity close to our hearts.
Their grandma, Carole (my mum), was diagnosed with vascular dementia in April 2023. Over the past year, her condition has sadly worsened, and in July, after a fall, her dementia accelerated. We had no choice but to find a care home — a difficult decision made during the school holidays, with Katie and Ted witnessing hospital visits, care home searches, and endless phone calls.
Thankfully, Mum is now in a wonderful home — Bradley Hall — and has settled in well. While she no longer remembers much of her day-to-day life, she still greets us with a big smile and knows who we are (even if the names get a little mixed up!).
Katie and Ted visit regularly and have become little stars at the home. The residents are drawn to them, and they patiently answer the same questions over and over — always with a smile. Just a short chat from them brings so much joy.
They’ll be walking 2 miles a day, side by side (unless they’re winding each other up!), and we’d be so grateful for your support.
💙 £10 could cover the cost of two families calling Dementia UK's free Helpline.
💙 £33 could fund an hour with a specialist Admiral Nurse, offering practical and emotional support to a family in need.

Sunday 2nd Nov At the end of today they have hit 110 miles between them.
Sunday 12th
Sunday 12th Oct Both kids still walking away! Managed 22 miles between them! Incredible effort.
