I'm taking on the October Dog Walking Challenge
Hello,
My name is Pepper, I'm a salt and pepper coloured Labradoodle, the wavy kind that always looks scruffy, even after a bath.
I joined my family when I was 10 weeks old on 21st September 2023 to help my Mum and 2 siblings though a tough time. My grandparents weren't very happy with my Mum to start with as they thought getting a dog would be too much for her but little did they know I was actually going to help THEM more than they realised because my Papa (my Mums Dad) was then diagnosed with dementia in 2023 at the age of 72.
My Papa has 5 human Grandchildren and 1 Granddoggy…that's ME! And between me and you, I think I'm now his favourite ha!ha! Shhhhhhhh! We spend a lot of time together going for walks, Papa laughs his head off when I do zoomies around the field chasing my ball but for me the best time is when Mum drops me off at their house and I get spoiled rotten. Mum opens the car door, I jump out and run like crazy (ears flapping wildly) to their house, Grandma opens the front door in readiness for me to run straight in and do zoomies all around the house, checking every room for monsters, I never find any but it's always best to check.
My Mum tells me she never thought her Dad was a big dog lover but somehow I have changed that perception and I get away with a lot of things…like jumping on the sofa, trying my hardest to snuggle in behind where Papa is sat to sneak a kissy lick but this just ends up in either myself or Papa falling off the sofa because there isn't much room for the both of us because I weigh in at 31.1kg, so i’m not the smallest of pooches ha!ha!
I love seeing my Papas face light up, smile and laugh when he sees me and this makes my Mum very happy indeed.
I Woof Woooooooo Papa!
Thank you for taking a moment to read this, it means a lot to us.
My Mum will update you with photos as I take part in this walk for my Papa.
Woof Pepper!
I’m walking 75 miles with my dog this October and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.
An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.
Thank you!
