I'm taking part in the November Swim Challenge

I’m taking part in the November Swim Challenge for Dementia UK and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

£33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

My Updates

Jenny ❤️

Sunday 2nd Nov
This November it will be five years since my mum
Jenny passed away  after a long battle with frontal temporal lobe dementia.  Dementia  is a truly devastating  disease.
As a family we  tried hard to support mum to live well with dementia.   I took her swimming regularly even when her dementia was quite advanced.. mum couldn’t shower or dress herself at that point.. however she loved the water,  she would hold onto a woggle and I would pull her along whilst  she did breast stroke legs. She was so content in the water… her  face would light up with her beautiful smile and she would sing along to herself … ‘half a pound of tuppenny rice ‘ from the ‘pop goes the weasel song’ . It sounds so sad but actually we knew that when she sang that song she was settled .
When I saw this swim challenge it seemed so appropriate  to take it up this month in memory of my beautiful mum.
I am also aware of family and friends who are currently caring for loved ones  with Dementia or like me have lost a love one  to Dementia, so I will also swim with all those family and friends in mind  and close to my heart ❤️
