I've been taking part in the November Swim Challenge

I’ve just completed my 15 kms swim as part of the November Swim Challenge for Dementia UK.  All funds raised in this challenge support families affected by dementia. I have just heard that - so far - £204,541 have been raised.  Thank you for  your support ... I'm really grateful.

£33 funds an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Sunday 30th Nov

Swim 09 - last one - 27 November/Lancashire Day

Thursday 27th Nov
Windy and soggy afternoon ... but the pool was almost empty!  What a great way to splosh up and down for the last swim in this challenge.  Thank you to everyone that's supported me (and all those taking part).

Swim no 8 - 26 November

Wednesday 26th Nov
Lovely quiet pool on this chilly Wednesday afternoon!  Bizarre Uni Underwater Hockey going on alongside.  How weird is that?  Shane the hair dryer wasn't working, minor issue I guess.  I'm hoping this is my penultimate swim of this challenge ... fingers crossed.

Swim no 7 - 24 November

Monday 24th Nov
November is galloping by ... thought I'd better work a bit harder at reaching my target distance! Wasn't sure I could manage another 2 kms today but the pool was really quiet and I  managed it - yay!  Just 3 more to go ....

Swim no 6 - 23 November

Monday 24th Nov
Well that was quite hard work ... at one point there were 5 of us in the lane, so the water was choppy!  Still, I managed to stick with it and get another 80 lengths in before the Strictly results show.  The bonus was to be in the anticlockwise lane so no risk to whacky my wonky left ankle.  Result!

Swim no 5 - 21 Nov

Friday 21st Nov
Phew - well I'm quite proud of today's swim.  Not only did I get to 2 kms but I did this in the clockwise lane! That may seem an odd thing to say but, with my wonky left foot, this is a bit of a 'danger' lane for me - wacking the ankle is a speciality.  Today I only bopped it once (significantly)!  That's progress ...

Swim no 4 - 16 Nov

Sunday 16th Nov
The lanes were pretty busy this afternoon so the water was quite choppy and there were plenty of pauses at the end of lengths to let faster swimmers 'pass'/zoom off.  Still ... feel happy to have another 1.5 kms achieved today.  I need to get a bit of a wiggle on to get to the target by the end of the month too!

Swim no 3 - 10 November

Monday 10th Nov
It was a lovely, quiet time in the pool this morning.  Had the lane to myself for a while and was quite surprised to find there were 2 others in there when I finished!  We must have been pacing each other well !  Pleased to feel that my arms weren't killing me at the end ... and I managed to shave 3 minutes of my swim.  Yay ...

Swim no 2 - Saturday 8 Nov

Sunday 9th Nov
The pool was lovely and quiet ... and, amazingly, the arms felt a bit less leaden!  Must be progress ...

Taken the first plunge!

Wednesday 5th Nov
After quite a break, I got into the Uni pool again to start this swimming challenge.  Oh my ... the muscles get out of practise, don't they?!  First 1.5km achieved and the arms felt like lead for the rest of the day.  It's a start ...
