I'm taking on Fans vs Dementia

During a 90-minute match, 30 people in the UK will develop dementia.

I’m taking on Fans vs Dementia and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

£21 could pay for the telephone costs of fout families calling our free Helpline whenever they need support.

£33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

My Mum’s story

My mum was the smartest  person I knew. She would start her own day by completing cryptic crosswords. And funny!!!  She has a terrific sense of humour and we laughed a lot.
My mum was my best friend and we shared a lot of things. From our love of  cricket, Manchester City, films and TV. I saw her or spoke to her every day. 
When she started with her Alzheimer’s  I knew I would eventually lose this wonderful woman.  Our conversations  became less and in the end I knew  I was a stranger to her. At the very end of her life she looked at me. Right in the eyes and said ‘I love you’.  I couldn’t have stopped my tears even if I wanted to. 
I am doing the fans.  Dementia walk for my mum. But also for those living with dementia now.  
My mum was always my mum and I will never stop loving her  and in understanding dementia I loved her even more. 
I hope every £ raised helps someone living through this.
Whenever I went to a match the first thing I did was call my mum with an account of how we played. I miss that. The fact that I am walking to the Etihad for her means so much. She would not have thought she was worth it. But believe me. She was and is🩵
