I'm taking part in the November Swim Challenge

I’m taking part in the November Swim Challenge for Dementia UK and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

£33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Done it!!!!

Thursday 27th Nov
55 lengths this evening means I’ve done it! Maybe I can do a few more… Thanks for all of your support x

No rest on the Sabbath

Sunday 23rd Nov
Dragged myself off the sofa and managed a good swim. It’s a bit chilly for wet hair out there though!

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Saturday 22nd Nov
A cold late one tonight.
Had a terrific day at work but a late finish meant a shorter swim than hoped.
I also couldn’t measure my swim, so manual counted the 40 lengths.
Happy weekend all!

Time, training, teenagers, traffic, timetables, arrrgh!

Tuesday 18th Nov
It’s been tricky fitting in a swim this past few days, so I was please to fit in a quick one this evening. Pleased that my speed was slightly up too!

A wet one

Friday 14th Nov
Probably more water outside the pool than inside today. Hoped to swim for an hour but didn’t manage it. I’ll try again Sunday. Many thanks to all my sponsors!

Chickened out

Thursday 13th Nov
Didn’t manage a swim today either. Call me a coward….

A couple of days off!

Wednesday 12th Nov
I could’ve had a dip, but… Hopefully back at the pool tomorrow evening

Big one

Sunday 9th Nov
Oooer a long one tonight and my amazing sisters, Kate and Bid were my inspiration. I’m better than them generally, but I love em to bits.
Couldn’t have got through mum’s horrid journey with Alzheimer’s without them. Especially Bid’s amazing care of mum at HQ and Kate’s making me lots of coffee, sleeping on mum’s floor, making me cry with laughter and squashing my tit in a hospital bed.
Grief sucks too, but I’ve got them. We’ll get through.
Best sisters.

For Mr C

Friday 7th Nov
Nearly didn’t swim this evening - an enjoyable but long day at work (11 hours, 10k steps). I felt compelled to as a ‘nod’ to a lovely gent I had the pleasure of getting to know, just a little, at work. Also as a nod to his devoted, supportive, loving family. Caring for a loved one with dementia is hard, relentless and heartbreaking. I’m raising a post swim glass to the gent and his amazing daughters

A late and tired one

Wednesday 5th Nov
Pleased with this though. Thought of mum and it pushed me through. Will try to fit in a third swim this week!

And I’m off!

Monday 3rd Nov
First swim this month is done! I love swimming, but I’m not a fast swimming and sometimes heading to the pool after a day at work is an effort. To hit 10k I’m going to need to swim further and more frequently since we lost mum to AlLzheimer’s in April. On a daily basis I see the hard work put in by those who care for those who live with dementia. I also see how this awful disease affects those living with it. A few lengths is nothing in comparison
