I'm walking 60 Miles in June for Dementia UK

This June, I'm walking 60 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

My Updates

I’m taking on this 60-mile challenge for Dementia UK. 💙

Thursday 28th May

Dementia is a cruel disease that impacts millions of people and their loved ones.

The last 6 months have been a heartbreaking time for me, as my Mum has been diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia. Sadly, she has experienced a rapid decline in her cognitive ability, with every day and week bringing new changes, including more of her memory slipping away. If you had asked me in December what 2026 looked like, this is definitely not what I would have pictured. I honestly don’t know how the rest of this year — or the years beyond — will look for her.

Caring for a loved one with dementia can feel incredibly lonely at times, and there simply isn’t enough support out there for families going through it. For me, it has been an exhausting and emotional journey. I know that without the support of my husband, family and friends, I wouldn’t have kept going myself.

On top of my Mum’s diagnosis, this year my Uncle (who is like a Dad to me and also my Mum’s brother) has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, like Mum, his cognitive abilities are significantly impacted. Another heartbreaking blow for the family, especially my Auntie who is an amazing strong woman.

That’s why I’m taking on this challenge: to help raise money and awareness for families affected by dementia, and to support the incredible work Dementia UK does for people facing these challenges every single day.

Any donation, no matter how small, would mean so much. Thank you for your support 💙
