I'm walking 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK
This September, I'm walking 30 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.
Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.
Thank you!

Bawdsey to Shingle Street - 20th Sept
Sunday 20th SepBawdsey to Shingle Street – 3.8 miles. Walking for Dementia UK 🚶♂️🌊💙
Another walk completed for Dementia UK, this time along the beautiful Suffolk coastline from Bawdsey to Shingle Street.
It’s an amazing stretch of coastline with a fascinating past. Bawdsey and the surrounding area played an important role during the Second World War, with coastal defences, gun batteries and pillboxes built to protect this vulnerable part of the Suffolk coast. Today, nature has reclaimed much of the landscape.
Shingle Street itself is a wonderful place for wildlife. The shingle banks provide a unique habitat for specially adapted plants, including sea kale, sea pea and sea campion, while the dunes, grassland and nearby wetlands attract a variety of birds and other wildlife. The changing coastline also creates an ever-moving landscape shaped by the sea, wind and tides.
It’s easy to simply enjoy the views, but when you stop and look around, there’s so much nature and history packed into this relatively remote corner of Suffolk.
But the main reason for the walk was Dementia UK 💙
Every mile is about raising awareness and supporting families affected by dementia, and helping fund the specialist Admiral Nurses who provide vital support.
Another few miles walked, another beautiful part of Suffolk explored, and hopefully another step towards raising money for a great cause.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support me, donate and share these walks. It really does make a difference. 💙

Felixstowe 7.6 miles - 12th September
Sunday 13th Sep🚶♂️💙 Dementia UK Charity Walk – 7.6 Miles Completed!
Yesterday evening I completed 7.6 miles of my 30-mile charity challenge for Dementia UK, starting at Landguard Point in Felixstowe.
It started off with some lovely weather and some fantastic coastal views, but by the end the heavens had opened and I finished the walk in the rain! 🌧️😂
There was plenty of history along the route too. Landguard has been a defensive position since the time of Henry VIII, with the fortifications protecting the entrance to Harwich Harbour. The area has a fascinating military history, including the Dutch invasion of 1667, when around 1,500 Dutch troops landed nearby and attacked Landguard Fort — but were successfully repelled. It was the last opposed seaborne invasion of England. (Historic England)
The present Landguard Fort dates mainly from the 18th century, although it was extensively remodelled during the Victorian period and continued to play a role in Britain’s coastal defences through both World Wars. (Historic England)
So, 15.1 miles down and 14.9 to go! 💪
I’ve included some video from the walk so you can see a little of the route and the beautiful Landguard coastline.
Thank you so much to everyone who has supported my fundraising so far. Every donation, share and message really does help. ❤️
If you can spare anything to support Dementia UK, it would be hugely appreciated. 💙

Bawdsey Walk 6th Sept
Sunday 6th Sep First walk today, 7.5 miles.East Lane, Bawdsey
Today’s walk took me along the beautiful Suffolk coast, passing through East Lane, Bawdsey, a site steeped in military history. The area played an important role in defending the coastline during both World Wars, with gun batteries, observation posts and anti-tank defences once protecting against invasion. Walking through this peaceful landscape today, it’s hard to imagine what it must have been like during wartime. Another few miles completed on my 30-mile charity walk for Dementia UK, with the stunning Suffolk coastline making the effort well worthwhile. ❤️
