I'm running 100K for Dementia UK

This February, I'm running 100K and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. Just £8 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Why am I running 100Km

Hi all, thank you so much for donating and please keep the support and donations coming!

I chose to run to raise money for this specific cause due to my family  being affected by it 1st hand.

My Nanny, Sheila, was an amazing person, she always put others first, she would move heaven and earth to help anyone and never wanted any thanks or recognition, she was a brilliant cook, had a huge hand in raising me, my siblings and my cousins and hosted Christmas parties that kept our family united.

When my grandad died, she depreciated really quickly and by the end she had forgotten who we were and forgotten herself too, she took a fall toward the end of her life and was in bed so long recovering she actually forgot how to walk in the end.

It’s a brutal disease, and I want to do what I can to help others.

I chose to run because I am severely overweight, and 2025 is the year I take action, so why not put the work in to lose weight and run for a cause so close to my heart… it’s a win win!

In memory of my beautiful Nan ...Barbara....who also was slowly stolen away from us by dementia. Dementia is a cruel,cruel disease robbing those who were once very proud people of their dignity. Robbing them of their voice and their memories....but her voice and her love live on in the family she left behind. Good luck Reuben ..its a great thing that you are doing.
