Walk 30 Miles in September 2026

I'm walking 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK

This September, I'm walking 30 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

FIRST WEEK DONE !! 27 Miles in the bank walked

Tuesday 8th Sep
Well thats a whole week under my belt. Despite not documenting every day with a blog I have been busy. Today I have managed 8.5 KM bringing my total for the week to 44 KM which i believe is around 27 miles of the 30 mile target. I am of course going to keep going for the whole month and just see what I can clock up. Today was  quite a meaningful one. This day 5 years ago, we lost a close friend to MND. I was thinking about his wife and son on mu walk around whilst also feeling slightly guilty that I am still blessed to be here for mine. Its a funny old thing isnt it?

Day 4 - A double dose of awareness and fundraising

Saturday 5th Sep
So today's outing in the fresh air had an additional twist to it. I lost a friend to MND a few years ago. Yesterday was the annual Golf Day where all his friends family get together to raise awareness of MND and raise much needed funds. So donning my Dementia UK T SHirt, I was able to add a the little twist to the day whilst walking around the Golf Complex and Course. Another 6km in the bag making a total of 21.5 Km after Day 4.

Day 3

Thursday 3rd Sep
Kids back to school today so an early 5.30 am start on my walk today. A power walk of 5 KM to heighten the senses and set the day up nicely. I hope everyone is enjoying their time out and about raising awareness. Have a great day.
15.5km in the bank after Day 3

Day 2 - A little further

Thursday 3rd Sep
A lovely early morning walk today ahead of a busy day at work. 6.9 km today making the total distance for 2 days at 10.5 km. A solid start rocking my White Dementia UK T shirt and receiving some approving honks of the horns as acknowledgement  from passing motorists in support. Or that is how i interpreted it anyway

Day 1

Thursday 3rd Sep
The walk begins. A gentle intro today as juggling a few domestic balls so to speak. 3.6KM in the bank
