I'm walking 62 miles in May

I’m walking 62 miles in May and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

My Updates

Couldn't Be Prouder

Thursday 15th May
So, I finally finished quite a few days before the end of the challenge.. I may have only just done over the distance but I've done it.. I know some people will keep going but with my disability playing up I've decided to stop at the 62 Mile mark... Thank you for all the support and encouragement from family and friends.. Time to rest now....

Early Sunday Morning!!

Monday 12th May
Seeing as the weather has been really hot these past few days, I decided that it would be best to walk early in the morning to save myself from the heat.  Well that didn't quite happen as it was pretty hot yesterday first thing, but I still decided to go and was very happy with the distance that I covered.. I seem to be doing pretty well at the moment with the miles I have already covered...

Not Doing Too Bad!!!

Friday 9th May
A very good morning, so here is a bit of an update on progress so far... I'm doing OK, I think!!
I am really enjoying getting out in the sunshine, it makes such a difference when you are walking..  I am pretty much on target, I may have to slow down a bit, as my health hasn't been great, but I won't give in.. Have a wonderful day xx

Thank you

Just a big thank you to my brilliant Mum for all her support, not just with this but with everything in my life.. You are the best and for that I love you even more each day.. xx

Getting in some practice

Wednesday 23rd Apr
Hello, well it isn't long now till I start my challenge.  I've been having a few practice walks these last few days.. I was told of a nice walk that takes you down to some small lakes that I've never realised are there.. In total the walk was just over 4 miles in length. I don't think I could do it to many times a week but would give that distance ago maybe once at a time. I won't be doing any practice today (23/4/2025) as it is tipping it down with rain.. Don't get me wrong if I have to go out in the rain i will, sometimes it's nice to walk in the rain.. Well that's an update for now.. Take care x

How life has changed!!!!!

Sunday 13th Apr
Hi, I'm Mike.. It has been a few months now since I was diagnosed with early on set Dementia.... Some changes have been difficult but I'm just living my life to the best... I am very keen photographer  and have been lucky to have been able to photography some amazing wildlife... I was medically retired from work many moons ago, I have as well as a number of different conditions, I have FND (Functional Neurological Disorder) it means I have lots of seizures but like with my fundraising for that i really try not to let it affect my daily life... So, that is me in a nut shell .. Good luck all and I'm sure everyone will smash it....
