I'm doing The 36 Hole Challenge for Dementia UK

I’m taking on The 36 Hole Challenge and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

£19 could pay for the telephone costs of five families calling our free Helpline whenever they need support.

£33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Why I'm taking on the challenge

Hi all,
As most of you are aware I with a group of my friends are doing the Dementia UK 36 Hole golf challenge on the 18/7/25 at Thurlestone golf club, please encourage us on by donating on here. Every penny/ pound counts.
Thought I’ll share with you of how important this is, my mother Beryl Dixon was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s/ dementia in 2022, the medication on the market at the time according to the Doctors would not of helped mum, as “she was to far gone”!!
It’s so important to try and get early diagnosis and with better medication to cure or prolong life a little longer
In 2022 I gave up work to care for mum, so I have first hand watched my mum deteriorate within 3 years… I’ve heard some patients being diagnosed much earlier so they could have it for years… with no cure.. a slow death… for families… grieving for a family member before they pass!…
My mum is 90… so should I give up on her.. NO of course not…
All I can do is be here for her to care for her and make sure she is comfortable…
Mrs Beryl Dixon is my mum not just someone else’s…
So please help me help my mum and loads of other dementia patients and there families
