I'm walking 60 Miles in June for Dementia UK

In 2014, my dad, William Crawford, passed away after a long and heartbreaking battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was only 65 years old.

The cruellest part of dementia is that you lose the person you love long before they are gone. Little by little, the man we knew disappeared. The dad who once laughed with us, guided us, and loved us unconditionally became trapped inside a mind fighting battles none of us could see.

There were days he no longer recognised us, and moments filled with fear, confusion, and sadness. Watching someone you love slowly fade away while still standing in front of you is a pain impossible to describe. Dementia didn’t just take my dad — it took his memories, his independence, and so much of the life he deserved to live.

This event is for him. For every family who has sat helplessly beside someone they love and watched dementia steal them piece by piece. And for the hope that one day, no family will have to endure this heartbreak again.
