I’m taking part in the November Swim Challenge for Dementia UK and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.
£33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

For my Gran
Sunday 2nd Nov My gran was always an inspiration to everyone in the family. Both kind and soft and solid as a rock. She was always supporting those around her. It was our turn to give back when she was sadly diagnosed with dementia when I was 11. My mum and cousin did an incredible job caring for you Gran, she even moved in to live with us. At the time I didn't even know what dementia was much less how it effects a person so I was scared and confused and pretty angry that the Gran I knew had changed so drastically. I wish we had had help so some weight could be taken from my mums shoulders and my cousins and I wish I had more emotional help to understand how to care and develop a new relationship sooner with this new version of the woman I loved so dearly. Dementia is a hard and cruel disease and I've seen it day in day out terrify my Gran for years. We sadly lost her in 2023 but her memory lives on in all of us everyday. She was an avid swimmer and loved to challenge herself and she throughly believed you could do anything you put your mind to, so for that I will honour her in this way.
