I'm taking on the October Dog Walking Challenge

I’m walking 75 miles with my dog this October and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you everyone for your support during this challenge, we've had a blast and raised £600 for this fantastic cause.

Day 25 - almost at 100 miles

I've had my ups and downs this month, but having raised £600 and almost walked 100 miles in honour of my beloved Grandad who I miss everyday and my lovely Mum who is currently battling this in hospital. This will go towards helping Dementia UK help so many other families receive help. Thank you 🫶

Wet and Windy

We've done over 90 miles, including the September miles, still a week to go for us to increase our miles. Which means there still a week to go for more donations 🙏 every penny makes a difference to those suffering and supporting people with this horrible condition.

Targets have been reached. Well yes, I still have to make up the 11 miles from September, but what a feeling!! And we still have just under 2 weeks to add to this!

Had extra special company on our walk today, my step dad Geoff came down from Leeds to join us on a walk, and what a walk, a cool 5 miles to add to our tally!

Wednesday 15th Oct
Almost there and then I remember that I had banked 11 miles from September 😂 But we are getting fitter and who would have thought that in such a short time Bert can happily do 3 miles an hour 😂 very proud of my little fat boy.

Popped over to Hadley Wood today, love it so much. Here's Bertie on The 'famous' bridge 😂 The miles are going up fast! Thanks for supporting us ❤️

Day 11 - success

Saturday 11th Oct
Bertie has lost some weight, success, he's been such a good boy on these walks and is keeping up better each day, by the end of the month he'll be running like a whippet 😂 We had company today, love the change of pace walking with someone else has, still getting the miles in in a more leisurely time, thanks Mandy 😉 And Bert loves nothing more than walking with Lily and Lola.

Loving being able to do these walks, it's so good to clear the mind for an hour or so.

Happy Birthday Mum, sorry I can't be there, but I will be up to see you soon xxx Had a lovely change of pace, with lovely company, for our walk today. Went to Broomfield Park for a nice gentle stroll and then a gorgeous lunch.

Dog Tired

Tuesday 7th Oct
One week down and we've smashed the target again, you lot are absolutely amazing, we are blown away with your generosity!!! Today we had company on our walkies, Lily and Lola joined us with their Mum, Aunty Mandy, we had a lovely time and finished the morning at the perfect spot, the pub!! Let's have more days like these please ☺️

Day 5 - After the storm

Beautiful morning for a blip round Trent Park. A few trees down so a bit of climbing involved too 😉 Thank you to everyone who has donated, over £400 is absolutely amazing, like the storm, I'm blown away

Thursday 2nd Oct
Getting into the swing of things, walking a bit later in the day as we get used to our new routine.

And so it begins.......

Wednesday 1st Oct
And so today is 1st October, I am now officially jobless and ready to walk the miles. 
As you lot have been so generous already, I have upped my fundraising target again. I am so overwhelmed that I have reached the targets so quickly each time. 
I cannot reset the miles, so please ignore the first 11 'practice' miles.  My aim is to make at least 100 miles during October, if not even more, if my poor old legs can take it 😂 and fat boy Bertie can keep up!   
If anyone fancies joining me on a walk, let me know, company is always appreciated!

Can't believe you wonderful people have got me to my second fundraising target, I am in total shock!
Feels cheeky to raise it again, even though the month hasn't even started yet. 
So let's just see where this falls naturally now it's my turn to deliver and get those miles in!!!

Monday 29th Sep
Little Lady has developed a limp, could this scupper our chances?? Hell no! She might have to sit out a few and maybe let us give her a pedicure (if anyone know JRTs and feet, you will feel my pain) but fingers crossed it's not a vet visit. Anyway, 2 days till we start this thing proper!!! Let's go!!!!
