Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

50 Miles for Memory: Four Women Walking for Dementia UK This January

Friday 2nd Jan

Blog post:

This January, four women will lace up their walking boots, wrap up against the cold, and take on a 50-mile challenge — not just for fitness or adventure, but for love, remembrance, and hope.

We are walking to raise money for Dementia UK, a charity that supports families facing one of the most heartbreaking and complex illnesses there is. For three of us, this cause is deeply personal. We have watched parents we love die with dementia, and we continue to live with its impact every day.

Dementia doesn’t just take memories — it changes relationships, families, and futures. It’s the slow loss of familiar faces, shared stories, and independence. It’s grief that begins long before goodbye, and it’s something millions of families across the UK are navigating right now.

Our 50-mile walk is a way of turning that grief into action.

January is not an easy month to walk. It’s cold, dark, and often wet — but that feels fitting. Dementia is not an easy journey either. It’s exhausting, emotional, and relentless. Each mile we walk represents the long road families travel, and every step is taken in honour of those we’ve lost and those still living with the condition.

We are walking for our parents.
We are walking for carers who never stop caring.
We are walking for the nurses and Admiral Nurses who provide vital support when families need it most.
And we are walking for a future where no one faces dementia alone.

By supporting our challenge, you’re helping Dementia UK continue its life-changing work — offering specialist dementia nurses, practical advice, and compassionate support to families at their most vulnerable.

Thank you for walking this journey with us in spirit. Every donation, share, and message of encouragement means more than we can say. Together, step by step, we can make a difference.
