I'm taking part in the November Swim Challenge

I’m taking part in the November Swim Challenge for Dementia UK and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

£33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Saturday 29th Nov
Last swim in my pink hat! Can’t miss me in the pool, however it does let water in so it will be returning to be the “spare” hat now the challenge is over!

Completed it 😎

Saturday 29th Nov
Well that’s that finished!
10km, two pools, all done with my number one supporter  and support crew Martin (Him).
Wore my fetching pink hat for every swim!
Thank you everyone for sponsoring me, smashed  the fundraising target thanks to you generous folks.

No swim tonight…

Tuesday 11th Nov
Instead of my usual 1km swim tonight I’ve been sat in ED with dad, after he was rushed in unconscious. Blood sugars were very low, thankfully he’s woken up with some treatment. Just needs a scan and an MOT to see that it doesn’t happen again. Will have to get back to swimming tomorrow, don’t want to fall too far behind! Thank you all again for all your support and sponsorship xxx

Friday vs tuesday

Saturday 8th Nov
so my Friday night swim was over a minute faster than the one before….
I like to think it’s because I’m getting fitter, but I’m also pretty sure that there is an element of water resistance in there too!
On a Tuesday the tri club train in half the pool, it’s like swimming the sea in there! And I should know, I grew up in lowestoft swimming in the North Sea 😳
Fridays it’s much less busy, mostly lane swimming. Sometimes we have the lane to ourselves, so much easier to swim without all the waves being made haha
We shall see next week how my times look.
I predict Fridays will always be my fastest swim though!

If the hat fits….

Tuesday 4th Nov
First swim of the month tonight, steady 1km. Tri-club in half the pool so it’s always choppy on a Tuesday! Managed about 45secs faster than my warm up swims in the last few weeks, so maybe the hat is helping keep me streamlined….. Thank you to everyone that has sponsored me already, you are all wonderful x

Challenge starts today!

Saturday 1st Nov
I went for a test swim last night as last week when I went it was as if I’d forgotten how to swim lol
I was also coming down the plane flu, so it was very slow and sluggish.
Now, on the other side of plane flu, I managed 3 mins faster and it felt much better!
Helps that the pool was pretty much empty too.

First swim of the challenge will be Tuesday.
Got my VERY pink swim cap to wear… although it looks bigger than my current one, hopefully it keeps my hair in check/dry still!!

Happy swimming folks!

Thank you to my Sponsors
