I'm taking part in the November Swim Challenge

I’m taking part in the November Swim Challenge for Dementia UK and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

I've only recently started swimming regularly and my goal is to swim 5k in November with a stretch target to complete the 10k.

Amy amount you can spare would go towards helping a family dealing with dementia with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Week 4 - phew, done it!

Wednesday 26th Nov
It's been a bit of a slog but I got there.  10k stretch target smashed! And another mile in the bag today.  I was spurred on by a fellow swimmer doing the same challenge today with her pink dementia hat on!

Week 2 - 5km target hit!

Friday 14th Nov
Week 2 finished and I've reached my target of 5km! In fact,  I've done just over 6km and my shoulders are feeling all of it.  Can I reach 10k? I've not got many more swim opportunities in November but I'm going to give it a go!

Day One Nonsense

Monday 3rd Nov
Day 1 of the challenge... forgot my swim pass, had to go back home,  came back,  got down to the pool... forgotten my goggles! Not a great start... still achieved 32 lengths with very stingy eyes. 800 metres in the bag!  Thanks to all the new sponsors, I've upped my target to £500... any help appreciated however small.  X

Target smashed!

Tuesday 28th Oct
Thanks so much to friends and family...£250 target smashed, can we hit £300 before November?  Feeling motivated,  not sure my shoulders would agree though!

The challenge

Wednesday 15th Oct
200 lengths = 5k
400 lengths = 10k
It doesn't sound much to do in a month until you get started and realise how tiring swimming is! What a great form of exercise though.  No stress on hips and knees and very mindful. I'm not very fast, probably 30-40 seconds per length with lots of breaks.  I'm looking at doing a  30-40 mins session 3 times a week

Thank you to my Sponsors
