I'm taking on the October Dog Walking Challenge
I’m walking 75 miles with my dog this October and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.
An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.
Thank you!

Reached the halfway point
Thursday 16th Oct Halfway through the challenge and we have reached the original 75 mile target. A big day for walks today. We did our morning walk, a trip out for coffee and cake ( yes Foxy and Simpson got some too) and finally a bit of pampering at the groomers. Foxy and Simpson are quite reactive so we normally spend our walks dodging any unfamiliar dogs. I have noticed the Dementia UK bandanas seem to prompt the other dog walkers to put their dogs on the lead or call them away! Share
Getting the hang of this app logging
Wednesday 8th Oct Day 8 and despite forgetting phone, forgetting to start the app, forgetting to stop the app we're showing almost 28 miles. Remembered to start and stop at the appropriate time this morning so things are looking up! Share
Will I get the hang of these apps!
Sunday 5th Oct Yesterday was going well until on the second walk of the day I forgot to stop the app which logs the distance. Consequently had logged 25 miles at an average speed of 26mph :).
Day 2 and already forgot my phone!

Ready for day 1

A cause very close to my heart
Wednesday 17th Sep Dementia entered my life back in the 1990's. Looking after my mother-in law alongside two young children and a full time job was exhausting! Since then I have had the privilege of caring for many clients with dementia and witnessed first hand the difficulties their families face. There is no joined up support currently available. Everyone's dementia journey is unique so solutions take time consuming research followed by trial and error. Dementia UK needs our help to reach as many families as possible to provide guidance and support. Please donate whatever you can afford. Thank you. ShareThank you to my Sponsors
