November Knitting Challenge 2026

I'm knitting everyday in November for Dementia UK

This November, I'm taking on the Dementia UK November Knitting Challenge by knitting every day and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone.

Dementia affects millions of people, changing lives in ways that can be overwhelming and heartbreaking. That's why I'm supporting Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity. Their Admiral Nurses provide expert advice, practical support and compassionate guidance to families when they need it most.

Just £33 could fund a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour supporting a family, helping them understand their options, cope with difficult situations and feel less alone.

Thank you for helping me make a difference this November. Your support means so much. 💙

Challenging myself

Tuesday 27th Oct
I started crocheting at aged 50, 10 years ago now….. how time flies by. I wanted to challenge myself to something new and to stop me comfort eating in an evening when watching TV. A friend at work set up a lunchtime group once a week for 45 minutes and taught me the basics. I was hooked from then on. The group set ourselves a challenge to create a staff office hippo mascot which could be squeezed and cuddled when needed. It worked out great and exists to this day.
I made lots of different things to begin with, undid a lot too! Fudged some but kept going until I found my own unique style and way to crochet 🧶.
I found my niche in Amigurumi animals and learnt to read a pattern, watched You tube tutorials on repeat. Sold some on eBay and gifted many.
So why not put this skill to good use and help raise vital funds so here I am, challenging myself again in creating twiddle muffs, so much fun.

Brilliant Helen ( wish I could crochet it's on my must learn in my 60s list!) my mum has advanced Alzheimers so I'm acutely aware as an only child the impact of this cruel disease . It would be nice if you'd be able to show your knitted crafts and if you're selling anything for the charity please let me know xxxx
