November Swim Challenge

I'm taking part in the November Swim Challenge

I’m taking part in the November Swim Challenge for Dementia UK and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

£33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

What am I doing ?

I am swimming 15k over the month of November !

Why am I doing this ?

Saturday 11th Oct
Hello everyone !
My name is Fallon and I’m sure many of you know me but for those who don’t and for everyone else I thought I would give you a little run down as to why I am doing this challenge.
My Grandmother or ‘Nanny’ as we liked to call her passed away in 2023, after living with dementia for many years.  Living with dementia is extremely hard not only for the person experiencing it but also for their family and friends around them.  Nanny had her good and bad days but she always had a brilliant support system around her. Whether that was my late grandfather learning how to recreate her famous Yorkshire puddings for Sunday roasts after she could no longer remeber the recipe, one of her many grandchildren or great grandchildren going to watch an episode of the chase or eastenders with her to keep to her routine. My mother who gave her time and patience to be by her side in every moment, to advocate for her when she no longer could. And to her amazing carers who made her life as easy as possible whether that was making her wear crazy hats and sing songs at every  holiday in the calendar, or feeding her dog Jake copious amounts of food.(and that is only the surface level of kindness and care they provided for her)
Nanny had her good and bad days, and the bad days were tough for everyone involved. Dementia uk can help everyone involved when it all gets too much. The admiral nurses can help with life-changing support and advice when needed, whether this is over the phone, through their clinic service or in local communities.
If you can it would be wonderful if you could make a donation to this wonderful cause, to help other get the support they need.
You have just got to  keep on swimming!
