I'm taking on the October Dog Walking Challenge

I’m walking 62 miles with my lovely dog Ruby this October and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Walk to South Hill Park

Thursday 9th Oct
Lovely walk this morning. It’s been a busy week so it felt good to get out with Ruby and continue our challenge.

Sunset walk

Monday 6th Oct
This was a walk I definitely wouldn’t have done without the challenge! I went to London for work today so Ruby went out with her dog walker at lunchtime. I was very tired but Ruby still had the energy for a short walk round our local pond. It was actually lovely, especially seeing the full moon on our way home.

Walk to junior parkrun

Sunday 5th Oct
Usually we all go in the car to junior parkrun but today Ruby and I set off early so we could get a good walk in. Met John and Daniel just before the start. Got some more steps in while they were running. Then we had a drink before walking home.

I didn’t do a walk with Ruby yesterday as I was visiting my parents, who live about 100 miles away. The reason why I’m doing this challenge is because  both my parents and I spoke to an Admiral Dementia Nurse last month and she was very kind and helpful.  Their free helpline is for anyone who needs advice about dementia.

Soggy walk into town

Friday 3rd Oct
Ruby accompanied me on a trip into Bracknell.  Another 2 miles done!

Second walk

Thursday 2nd Oct
Walked to one of our favourite parks in Bracknell - Lily Hill Park.
I’ve set us the challenge of walking 62 miles together - only 2 miles a day, which maybe doesn’t sound particularly challenging. I’ve got a very busy month ahead though, so some days I won’t be able to walk Ruby at all (she’ll still get a walk but with John or our dog walker).

First walk completed!

Wednesday 1st Oct
Ruby and I did our first walk this afternoon. Made our regular walk around Mill Pond slightly longer. It was nice and sunny. Felt good to do a walk inbetween finishing work and picking up Daniel from after school club.
