Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I’ve committed to walking 50 miles to raise funds for Dementia UK, but for me, this isn’t just a fitness challenge, it’s personal.

Watching dementia take hold of my Nanna has been incredibly hard. Because she was a nurse her whole life, she’s switched-on enough to know something is wrong. She saw her own sister die from this disease, and honestly, she’s terrified.

It’s heartbreaking to see her get so upset when she realizes she’s forgotten something. We can go from "What day is it?" to "How old am I?" twenty times in the space of five minutes. It’s a constant, exhausting cycle for her.

I also wanted to do this to shout out my Mum. She is a total hero. She gave up work to look after Nanna, going round at least 6 days a week to cook, clean the whole house, and handle everything Nanna needs. I don’t know how she does it.

I’m raising money for Dementia UK because their Admiral Nurses are a lifeline for families like ours who are just trying to keep their heads above water.

If you have a spare couple of pounds to donate, it would honestly mean the world to me and my family. If you can't donate, a share of this post goes a long way too!

Our grandma has a type of dementia and this is so hard for her. She was a nurse so she knows something is wrong and also saw his sister die from dementia so she is completely terrified of it. She knows she forgets and gets upset when she realises, it can go from what day is it to how old are you, this can go on for up to 20 times in 5 mins.

My mother had to finish work to look after her and goes round a min of 6 days a week taking meals round, cleaning the whole house as well as caring for all her needs. She is an absolute hero in my eyes.

I decided to take part for my mum, grandma and her sister. We got this ❤️

Such a worthy and relatable cause ❤️ Dementia/Alzheimer's has such a notable impact on not just the sufferer but also those who care or are in contact with them. What I've witnessed to date with family members, friends, colleagues and also the other direct visits with my late Godfather, Auntie-in-Law and others will never leave my Wife and myself 😪 The Walk of Life indeed! 💕
