I'm running 100K for Dementia UK

Hi, I’m Elena! This February, I'm running 100K over the course of the month to help raise funds for dementia UK. Growing up, my childhood was deeply shaped by the presence of dementia. Both my Grandparents, Marjorie and Barry, battled with this heartbreaking disease, and witnessing their decline was such a difficult thing to go through as a little girl. Dementia didn’t just effect them, it effected my entire family. We all watched the once vibrant people forget the simplest of things, and eventually they couldn’t remember who we were. The memories we made were all replaced with confusion and silence. Dementia is a disease that robs people of their independence, their identity and their connections with others.

Despite the pain, my grandparents are a huge reason to who i am today. I am carrying with me the love and lessons my grandparents gave me before dementia took its toll, and now i am fully committed to make a difference. That’s why i am raising funds to support the dementia research, care and support service. The money raised will go towards providing better resources for families like mine, funding research to find potential treatments and to help improve the quality of life for those living with dementia.

This cause is deeply personal to me and a lot of people close to me. No family should have to feel helpless or alone while navigating the challenges of dementia.

By contributing to this fundraiser, you are helping bring hope to the countless of families and moving us closer to a world without dementia.

Your donation big or small will help more than you think. Im very dedicated to this 100k in 28 days all in honour of my lovely grandma and Gp. Thank you for your support <3

Bed bound with Influenza

Tuesday 11th Feb
Hi Guys. Unfortunately since the start of february i’ve landed this awful flu that has put me on my knees so i’ve not been able to run yet. It’s near gone now but im just left with this horrendous cough and sore throat which makes it difficult for me to run with. I’ve been very upset that i haven’t been able to do the challenge in the time frame i’ve set but it’s been out of my hands, nethertheless it’s not going to stop me from doing it when i’m fully better!  The challenge will end up being between the mid/end of february to mid/end of march. I’m so excited to start again

Grandma and GP loved you so much. I know you've always felt their loss, so young in your life, but you must know that you brought so much joy and happiness to their lives in the short time you had with them. I'm so proud of what you are doing Elena. All my love Dad xxx

Hi Elena, thanks so much for raising money for Dementia as my mam has dementia and it us very difficult, emotional and stressful trying to care for her as time goes on. Such a terrible disease and I have just finished a book on a man who walked from Lands End to John O Groats to raise money for Alzheimer Research called Where Skylar sing. A truly brilliant book.
