I'm walking 31 Miles in May for Dementia UK

This May, I'm walking 31 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Week 1 of my Dementia UK Walk – 1st to 8th May 2026

Saturday 9th May
This week marks the start of my walking challenge in support of Dementia UK, a cause that means a great deal to me.

From the 1st to the 8th of May, I’ve been building my steps day by day, and I’m really proud to say I’ve reached a total of 24,451 steps in my very first week.

It’s been a mix of short walks, daily movement, and making a conscious effort to stay active. Some days were easier than others, but knowing that every step is contributing towards raising awareness and support for families affected by dementia keeps me going.

Dementia affects so many lives, and walking in support of Dementia UK has given my daily steps a real sense of purpose. It’s made me slow down, be more mindful, and appreciate the importance of consistency over perfection.

This is just the beginning, and I’m excited to see what the coming weeks bring. One step at a time — literally.

Thank you to everyone supporting me along the way 💜

Day 4 – Star Wars Force Day ✨

Monday 4th May
Today marks Day 4 of my sponsored walk for Dementia UK, and fittingly it also lands on Star Wars Force Day. It feels quite symbolic really — a reminder of strength, resilience, and the idea that even when things feel tough, there’s always a bit of “the Force” helping you carry on.

It definitely is a mixture of determination and fatigue day. My body is starting to feel the miles from the last few days, and there’s that familiar heaviness in my legs that comes with doing something challenging and consistent. But alongside that is a real sense of pride — knowing I’m already several days in and continuing to move forward for such an important cause.

Supporting Dementia UK has given every step a deeper meaning. Dementia affects so many families, and knowing that this walk is helping raise awareness and support for Admiral Nurses and the vital care they provide keeps me going, even on the tougher days.

There are moments today where I have to slow down and just take it steady. Instead of pushing too hard, I focus on simply keeping going — one step at a time. That mindset feels important not just for this challenge, but for the wider message behind it too: progress doesn’t always have to be fast to matter.

And because it’s Star Wars Day, there’s been a bit of fun woven into it too. A little reminder of “the Force” being with me on this journey, and of course thinking of Grogu along the way — small, determined, and quietly powerful.

Day 1 – A New Month, A New Challenge

Friday 1st May
There’s something powerful about the start of a new month. A fresh page, a new beginning—and for me, the start of something deeply personal and meaningful.

Today marks Day 1 of my Dementia UK walk: 31 miles over the course of May. It’s a challenge that feels both exciting and emotional, knowing the reason behind every step I take.

This morning feels different. There is a mixture of nerves and determination as I lace up my trainers. The first step is always the hardest—not just physically, but mentally too. But once I start, I remind myself why I’m doing this.

Dementia affects so many lives. It changes families, memories, and everyday moments. Walking for this cause means more than just miles—it’s about awareness, support, and making even a small difference.

Today isn’t about speed or distance. It is about starting. About showing up. About committing to something that matters.

There will be days when it feels tough, when motivation dips, or when my legs ache—but today proves that I can begin. And that’s enough.

One step at a time. One day at a time.

Here’s to Day 1 💛
