I'm walking 62 Miles in October

I’m walking 62 Miles in October and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

An £10 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

Walking 62 Miles for Dementia: In Support of My Mum and Everyone on This Journey

Wednesday 24th Sep

Dementia isn’t just a diagnosis—it’s a long, emotional journey that touches every part of life. It’s something that my family and I know intimately, because my Mum is living with this condition.

In her honor—and for the millions of people and families walking this same path—I’ve committed to walking 62 miles to raise awareness and funds for dementia support and research.

This isn’t just a personal challenge. It’s a mission.

Why 62 Miles?

Each mile represents more than just distance. It stands for:

  • The millions of memories lost to dementia
  • The daily steps carers and loved ones take to support someone living with it
  • The strength it takes to keep going when someone you love begins to forget who you are

Whether it’s through confusion, frustration, or the quiet fading of familiarity—dementia changes lives. But so can we.

Why I’m Doing This

I’m walking for my Mum—for her laughter, her warmth, her strength, and the parts of her that dementia is slowly stealing away.

But I’m also walking for:

  • Families navigating this every single day
  • People who feel alone in their caregiving roles
  • Researchers working tirelessly to find better treatments—and, one day, a cure
  • Organizations offering support, guidance, and hope

This walk is for them all.

How You Can Help

This challenge is only possible with your support. Every donation, no matter how big or small, will help fund:

  • Vital care and support services for people living with dementia
  • Resources for families and carers
  • Ongoing research into prevention, treatment, and (we hope) a cure

You can sponsor my walk by donating [insert your fundraising link here], sharing the campaign, or simply leaving a message of encouragement.

Sponsorship Means More Than Money

Your sponsorship isn’t just financial support—it’s solidarity. It’s standing with people like my Mum and saying:

“You are not forgotten. We’re walking with you.”

If you’ve been touched by dementia in your life—or know someone who has—this is a way to honor their journey too.

Follow the Journey. I’ll be sharing updates, photos, and reflections as I make my way through the 62 miles. Some days will be easier than others. But every step will be filled with purpose.

From the bottom of my heart—thank you. For reading, sharing, donating, or just being part of this journey. Your support means the world to me, and to families like mine facing dementia every day.

Let’s walk together. Let’s make a difference.

Thank you to my Sponsors
