I'm walking 62 miles in May
I’m walking 62 miles in May and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.
An £8 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.
Thank you!

An 8.1 mile Bank Holiday Monday
Monday 5th May Today, I walked 8.1 miles around Carsington Water, with my wife. We had a great time, and it feels good to now be up to 16 miles in total - a quarter of the way there! Share
Ready to roll!
Friday 2nd May A big thanks to the people who have already generously sponsored me - it’s very much appreciated. I’ve had a bit of a hazy week due to some focal seizures last weekend, but taking it steady this week has really helped and I’m ready to get started on walking these 62 miles. I’ll be doing some over the long weekend, using Strava to log the miles, so I’ll keep updating this blog as I go along. Share
Why I’m walking 62 miles in May
Thursday 17th Apr Dementia is a cause close to my heart; my lovely mum is suffering with Lewy Bodies Dementia at the age of 71, and I wish so much that there were more treatments available to slow down her decline, if not stop it altogether. I’m walking 62 miles for her, my dad who is her 24 hour carer, for my late uncle and grandparents who battled it, and for everyone who suffers with this horrible disease both now and in the future. As a bonus I enjoy walking, especially with my wife, and it’s a great way to keep me in good health with my Type 1 Diabetes and post TBI Epilepsy. We’re lucky to live in Derbyshire where there’s endless amounts of beautiful places to walk. ShareThank you to my Sponsors

My Mum suffered with vascular dementia as a result of having a bad stroke. It was heartbreaking to see her like that, she really didn’t deserve to end her days in that state. I hope you complete your miles and reach your target.
