I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

With a lovely long walk today I surpassed the 50 mile target and have walked over 52 miles so far! The update about this brought in some more wonderful donations, for which I'm really grateful. I'll keep going and do a final update at the end of Saturday so see how far I get to by the end of the month.

I started quite big

Thursday 1st Jan
Well, we went for a big long walk today and did 4.9 miles. It was quite hard going by the end but we didn't stop and now we're shattered and having a well deserved coffee. I think I'll limit these long ones to once a week and do shorter ones in the week. Onward!

Gearing up for the walkies!

Tuesday 30th Dec
Today is my dad's 81st birthday!
He's been living with dementia for a couple of years now and has just moved into full nursing care in a really lovely and well supported care home. He's on top form and we do all we can to support him as well as my mum, who is navigating life without him around at home.
I'm really keen to start getting out and walking as much as I can every day next month to get to the 50 mile target and beyond. Hoping we can raise as much as we can to support other families like ours.
