HAXEY PARISH WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

Walk 31 Miles in May 2026

DAY 31

Now all out sponsors are in and we have completed the challenge, one final thank you from all of us to all of you who helped us go beyond what we could have ever hoped to have raised. Thank you x

Day 30

So grateful to everyone who has sponsored us on this challenge, we’ve raised well over our  target and now at over £1300 crept up the leaderboard to a respectable position for a small group of WI ladies. We are so proud of what we have accomplished, with one final walk to do

Day 29

Still smashing it!!

Day 28

Most of us have now completed the 31 miles, some have done over 50 miles!! The finish line in sight :)

Day 27

WOW!! Thank you so much to everyone who has donated on our members page and hit our target of £1000. We are overwhelmed and so so grateful!
Tonight was our monthly WI meeting and we thought we would add a pic of our team of striders that have walked through wind, rain, cold and the extreme heat! With the finish line in sight tonight we met and shared our success with the rest of the members

Day 26

The heat is slowing our pace, but not our enthusiasm. Many of our team have not only already completed the 31 miles but gone way beyond it! But we all are committed to complete the challenge

Day 25

On the hottest bank holiday Monday on record ever we are still out walking, please please reward our efforts and show your support by helping us get to our target with just 6 days to go we would love to hit our goal!!

Day 24

Feeling hot hot hot!! This challenge has certainly seen all weather, and tested our resolve, but we are pushing on, with early morning walks when the air is a tiny tiny bit cooler!

Day 23

Walking where ever we are, and roping family members in as we rack up the miles

Day 22

The heat started to ramp up but it's not stopping us! Even on our travels we are walking when ever  and where ever we can

Day 21

With just 10 days to go we are walking hard to get as many miles under our belts and hit our 31 miles in may each.... that will be a fabulous 217 miles which we are certainly going to smash!! We'd really love to also smash our £1000 target too, just a fiver a mile would break the £1000. If you're loving reading our daily blog then hit the donate button and give us your support :)

Day 20

Several ladies have already hit the 31 miles target but are keeping going, not only is this challenge giving us a sense of achievement and helping charity, but its improving our own health too! Physical and mental health, walking is a win win for all

Day 19

The miles keep on coming, some lucky enough to walk in the sunshine, some of us not so lucky! But we are still walking come rain or shine

Day 18

Not as many pics, with ladies focusing on getting those miles done even when pushed for time in our busy lives, and not meandering and taking pics

Day 17

More miles walked on Sunday morning, exploring natures beauty on our doorsteps, how lucky are we? One lady even having the fantastic find of wild orchids!

Day 16

Ladies are still striding, not just locally but internationally while on their holibobs!! Dedication to this challenge and a great cause, please support us and help us hit our target

Day 15

The half way mark! Not so many pics but we are still walking and want to say a huge thank you to everyone sponsoring us and helping us to smash our targets!!

Day 14

The ladies have been dodging the rain, and some getting caught by a shower, but still walking with mother nature

Day 13

Wow one of our ladies has already hit the 31 mile target!! Well Done Heather!!

Day 12

The miles are adding up, dedication ladies!

Day 11

Out and about with some beautiful and some not quite so beautiful scenery :)

Day 10

Lots of miles covered today, with many of us out and about. Some fabulous pics to show off  all our efforts

Day 9

Not many pics but we are still doing the miles :)

Day 8

Such a lovely day to walk, so lucky to have all the open countryside and fresh air to enjoy

Day 7

Some great walks today, this challenge is really driving us to get out and about daily when otherwise we might stay indoors

Day 6

Out and about clocking up the miles, dedicated ladies

Day 5

More pics from places we are lucky to walk in

Day 4

We all managed to get out and about on Bank Holiday Monday, some beautiful scenery as we keep walking those miles in May

Day 3

Some ladies braved the weather and had a wet walk today! Thanks to everyone for your donations and support,  we really do appreciate it, knowing every step we take is making a difference and supporting Dementia UK

Day 2

We've been out and about, dragging family members and dogs with us! Soaking up the scenery and sunshine :)

Day 1

Day 1 on a hot hot May Day we set off on our 31 miles in May challenge. Great scenery and fantastic start

We're walking 31 Miles in May for Dementia UK

This May, we are taking on the Walk 31 Miles in May Challenge and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. We are taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

Thank you to our Sponsors
