Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

We're walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, our family is coming together to take on the 50 Miles in January challenge. We are walking to honor the memories of those we’ve lost, to support those still fighting, and to raise vital funds for dementia care and awareness.

Dementia is a journey no family should have to navigate alone. We want to help ensure that families currently in the thick of it have the advice, guidance, and support they need to provide the best care for their loved ones.

Our Why:

For our Matriarch, Jean Bingham (Mum, Gran, & Oma) "Granny B/ Oma was the heart of our family—fiercely independent, generous, and kind in her own way. She had a way of always letting people know exactly how she felt about them… sometimes directly, sometimes just loudly enough to be overheard! Alzheimer’s may have taken some of her qualities, but it never took her. She was still our Granny B, still deeply loved and deeply herself. The hardest part was seeing it rob her of her independence—the very thing she valued most. Yet, even through that loss, her spirit remained." — Amanda

For Great Uncle Jimmy (James Reid) "I am walking in memory of my Great Uncle Jimmy. He was a grandfather figure to my sisters and me, and a great-grandfather for our kids. Uncle Jimmy was the kindest and funniest guy who shared a lot of love and laughter with his family. He was a huge part of our lives, and his presence is missed by us all every single day." — Michelle

For Aunt Patsy "I am walking for my Aunt Patsy, who is currently living with dementia. Aunt Patsy is my godmother and she means the world to me. She has been a huge part of my whole life growing up, especially in the way she supported my mum when we lost my dad. Raising awareness for the care she and others deserve is so important to me." — Angela

How You Can Help

We are trading the warmth of our homes for the pavement this January, clocking up 50 miles each to support this cause.

If you are able to donate, your contribution will go directly toward helping families navigate the complexities of dementia. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing our story to help raise awareness.

Every mile is for them. --
