When is Time for a Cuppa?
Time for A Cuppa activity at Nationwide is taking place throughout May. Dementia UK’s Time for a Cuppa week takes place from 1st-8th May 2026, but you can do your fundraising, or hold your event, on any date that suits you in May.
There will be activity within our offices on 12th May. To find out more visit nbsuk.sharepoint.com/sites/INTRA-SocialInvestment/SitePages/Time-for-a-Cuppa-2025.aspx
How do I fundraise and get involved in Time for a Cuppa?
This year there are three different ways to support Dementia UK. You can host a tea party, take on your own cuppa challenge, or if you’re unable to fundraise, you can make a donation to Dementia UK on the homepage.
Option 1: Host a tea party
Time for a Cuppa is Dementia UK’s tea party fundraising event.
This May we’re inviting Nationwide colleagues to come together to bake, brew and raise vital funds for families facing dementia by organising a tea party. Whether it’s part of a team meeting, a special get together in the office or branch, or in your local community – sign up today to come together with your colleagues, friends or family and host a tea party. You can find lots of information and support to help you host a tea party on the resources tab.
Option 2: Take on a cuppa challenge – your way
Whether you give up your takeaway coffee for the month, take on a daily challenge, or set up a sweepstake, choose a challenge that suits you and raise money for Dementia UK. From swapping one cuppa a day and giving the difference, or asking for sponsorship for a daily challenge, every donation makes an extraordinary difference. You can take on any challenge you would like to support Time for a Cuppa. There are a range of ideas on the resource tab to get spark some thinking. Once you’ve decided on your challenge, you can then ask for donations to support your challenge!
Option 3: Donate to the campaign
If you can’t host a tea party or take on a challenge, but you still want to get involved, you can make a donation on the homepage.
I’m hosting a tea party; how do I invite people to my event?
You will find lots of useful information in the Resource section, including template emails, to support with inviting people to your event.
I’m taking on my own challenge; what do I need to do?
Once you’ve decided on your challenge and set up your page, share your plans with friends, family and colleagues and ask them to sponsor your challenge.
When will I receive a branch fundraising pack?
All Nationwide branches will receive a fundraising pack week commencing 13 April. For branches and colleagues who like to go above and beyond there is also a digital fundraising pack for all colleagues to use, and you’ll find more helpful resources on the Resources tab.
When will I receive an office fundraising pack?
All fundraising materials you need to support with fundraising at admin sites are available digitally. This digital fundraising pack is for all colleagues to use, and you’ll find more helpful resources on the Resources tab.
Can I bake cakes for a bake sale?
If you're holding a bake sale, for any shop-bought items you must keep the original packaging with the ingredients label. For any homemade cakes, you must have a list of all the ingredients used to make these cakes. You must display a sign at your bake sale that instructs anyone with allergies to speak to a colleague. You must then share the original packaging and/or ingredients lists. For more guidance you must follow, check out the Food Standards Agency website and the Social Impact Hub.
What difference will I make?
In 2025, our combined Nationwide efforts raised more than £41,000 for Dementia UK!
Your support means so much – and by taking part in Time for a Cuppa, you’re helping to ensure no family faces dementia alone.
- £33could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour
- £135could pay for an Admiral Nurse to answer calls for an evening on Dementia UK's Helpline, when other sources of support have closed for the night
- £447could pay for the telephone costs of 116 families calling Dementia UK's free Helpline for expert dementia advice
- £1,250could fund a new Admiral Nurse for a whole week to support a community where people are struggling to access local dementia services
Every cuppa you pour and every pound you raise will help Dementia UK’s nurses bring their life-changing support to families facing dementia when they need it most.
How do I pay in the money I raise?
All the money raised on your personal fundraising page will go straight to Dementia UK. If you have any cash donations, you can pay in via the following methods:
- If you work in a Nationwide branch pay in any cash you receive into colleague or customer ST accounts (ST102 for colleague donations and ST059 for customer donations)
- For any other cash donations you can pay them in:
- Online: pay in your fundraising
- By bank transfer: please email corporate.partnerships@dementiauk.org to request Dementia UK's bank details
- Please include your colleague number when paying in via these methods, and add these as ‘offline donations’ to your page
I need to access dementia support; what’s available?
Free and confidential virtual appointments with Nationwide’s Admiral Nurses, Gary and Becca, are available every week. If you have questions about dementia for yourself, family, friends, colleagues or customers, they’re here to help. There doesn’t need to be a confirmed dementia diagnosis; everyone is welcome. If you’d like to book an appointment, please visit our dedicated booking page and use the password NBS. To find out more about the support available to colleagues, please visit the Dementia at Work intranet page.
