I'm walking 62 Miles in October

I’m walking 62 Miles in October and raising funds so that families affected by dementia get the specialist help and advice they need. I would be grateful for your support.

An £10 donation can cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

Thank you!

It’s a lazy day today so let’s see how far I walk to day to help Dementia UK raise funds that will help them in the fight against dementia. Please share my just giving page.
5 miles to add so far  so today I’ve totalled up 34 miles in  5 days.

Day 2

Thursday 2nd Oct
Day two how far will I walk today?
There are an estimated 982,000 people with dementia in the UK, a number predicted to rise to over 1 million by 2025 and 1.4 million by 2040, due to increasing life expectancy and better recognition of symptoms. Dementia mainly affects people over 65, with the risk significantly increasing with age, though young-onset dementia (before 65) affects around 1 in 20 people with the condition. The condition is also more common in women and has a significant economic cost, with informal carers facing impacts on their work life.

I’m raising money for Dementia UK by walking at least. 62 Miles through October, thanks everyone who has donated so far helping Dementia UK 👍👍
