Walking 30 Miles for Mum 💜

This September, I’ll be walking 30 miles in memory of my beautiful mum—my best friend—who lived with Alzheimer’s disease.

Losing someone you love to dementia is unlike any other loss. It’s a journey of saying goodbye in countless little ways, while still holding on to precious moments of love, laughter and connection. I miss my mum every single day, and this walk is my way of honouring her memory while helping others who are facing the same heartbreaking journey.

When I was caring for Mum, I didn’t realise just how much support was available. Like so many families, I tried to navigate it on my own, my way, not knowing where to turn or who to ask. Caring for someone with dementia can be physically exhausting, emotionally overwhelming, and often incredibly lonely.

That’s why I’m raising money for Dementia UK. Their specialist Admiral Nurses provide life-changing support, guidance and reassurance to families living with dementia—support I wish I’d known about when Mum needed it most.

Dementia doesn’t just affect the person diagnosed; it touches every member of the family. Behind every diagnosis is a husband, wife, daughter, son, sibling or friend trying their very best to cope. No one should have to face that journey alone.

Over the month of September, I’ll be walking 30 miles—one step at a time—for Mum, for everyone living with dementia, and for every family who needs someone to lean on.
