Cycle 300 Miles in June

I'm cycling 300 miles for Dementia UK

This June, I'm cycling 300 miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. Just £8 can cover the telephone costs for two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

My Updates

First 100 miles completed.

Friday 6th Jun
The 31 miles I cycled this morning has taken me through the 100 mile barrier. At the start of the  year, there is no way I would have ever thought of taking part in this challenge. But here we are in June, four and a half stone lighter and really enjoying clocking up the miles for such a great cause.

Day 1 done

Sunday 1st Jun
Off to a good start. I managed 22 miles today. Thanks again for all your support.

Getting Closer

Friday 23rd May
Thanks again to everyone who has donated so far. We are almost at the £500 target and just need a little push to get over the line.
The response has been tremendous and I really can’t wait to get started on June 1st. Such a pity that it wasn’t this month as the weather has been fantastic.
Again, many thanks to those who have pledged support. Dementia is such a cruel illness and Dementia UK are doing their level best to support those who are suffering.

Overwhelmed

Wednesday 14th May
My page isn’t even two days old and thanks to all my wonderful friends, I have reached over 50% of my original target. Thank you all so much❤️

Dementia ‘25

Tuesday 13th May
In 2021, I watched my Dad deteriorate with Dementia before he passed away. It was absolutely heartbreaking to see a once proud, energetic man fall to such a horrible condition.
I have taken to cycling this year to improve my overall fitness.  When I saw this challenge of riding 300 miles in June and raising funds for Dementia at the same time, I thought it was something I could achieve.
If you could help me reach my target by donating any amount you can afford, it would  be greatly appreciated.

You’re doing really well Tam. Keep up the good work for such a worthwhile cause. It’s a terrible illness - my dad was diagnosed with early onset dementia at age 61 and passed away at 66.
