I'm walking 60 Miles in June for Dementia UK
This June, I'm walking 60 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.
Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.
Thank you!

Walk 60 Miles in June — Hengistbury Head to Wilton and Back
Monday 18th May
What I’m doing
This June I’m taking on the Walk 60 Miles in June challenge for Dementia UK. I’ll be walking from Hengistbury Head to my sister’s house in Wilton (near Salisbury) — roughly 30 miles each way by Google — leaving Hengistbury Head on the morning of 22 June 2026 and aiming to be back in Bournemouth by Friday 28 June 2026 after a rest with my sister. I’m doing this to raise funds and awareness for families facing dementia and to join a community of walkers across the UK.
Why this matters
One in two of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime. Dementia UK’s specialist Admiral Nurses provide vital support to families when they need it most. Every step I take and every pound raised will help families access expert advice, emotional support, and practical care.
My route and plan
Start: Hengistbury Head, morning of 22 June 2026.
Outward leg: Walk to Wilton — about 30 miles.
Rest: Spend time with my sister to recover and recharge.
Return leg: Walk back to Bournemouth, arriving by 28 June 2026.
Total distance: 60 miles across the month, completed as one big round trip within the challenge window.
I’ll be tracking my progress using the Walk 60 Miles in June app, and I’ll be wearing my free Dementia UK t-shirt while I walk.
How you can help
Sponsor me via my fundraising page: https://fundraise.dementiauk.org/fundraisers/thomasdaubney/walk-60-miles
Share this page with friends and family on social media.
Cheer me on — messages and encouragement mean a lot on long days.
Donate offline if you prefer; I’ll be collecting sponsorship forms and can add donations to my online page.
Every donation helps. For example, a small gift could pay for a family’s call to Dementia UK’s free Helpline.
Safety and practical notes
Safety first. I’ll be planning sensible daily distances, staying hydrated, and carrying a charged phone. I’ll take rest days as needed and consult a healthcare professional if anything feels off. If you’re thinking of joining a walk yourself, please do the same.
Follow my journey
I’ll post updates, photos, and milestones on my fundraising page and social channels. If you’d like to follow along, please sign up to my updates on the fundraising page or follow me on social media.
Thank you for reading, for your support, and for helping families affected by dementia. Every step and every donation makes a real difference.
