Walking for Dementia

Saturday 26th Sep
Working in health and social care, dementia is something I see regularly. I see the impact it can have on the person with diagnosis of dementia, but I also see the effect it can have on the people who love and care for them.

Dementia can change so much. Memory, communication, independence and everyday routines can all become more difficult. For families, it can mean adapting to a new way of life, taking on caring responsibilities and sometimes watching someone they love change in ways that can be incredibly difficult.

But I also get to see the other side. I see how much kindness, patience, understanding and good care can matter. A familiar voice, a favourite song, a reassuring hand or simply taking the time to sit with someone can still mean so much. That is why I’ve decided to take part in a walk for Dementia UK.

This is a cause that means a great deal to me, both personally and through the work I do. I’m proud to be doing my little bit to support a charity helping families through some of the most challenging moments of their lives 💙
