Walk 31 Miles in May 2026

Join the Facebook group for Walk 31 miles in May challenge.

I'm walking 31 Miles in May for Dementia UK

This May, I'm walking 31 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

So the end of the first week and boy was it tough, started out slow but strong 💪 but then my body decided to have a huge flare up leaving me bedbound for 2 frustrating days but I came back strong and smashed it !!
Finished the week at 12.1 miles
19 more to go now
Thank you to each and every one of you supporting me along the way it means the world to me

Our dementia journey

Monday 6th Apr
2019 started like any other year full of promise but who knows just 7 months later our lives would change forever, when dad suffered a huge AVM bleed to the brain. He survived after weeks in ICU having to learn things over again etc
This once fit man was reduced to being spoon fed wearing nappies etc
He did improve for a little while with issues but then the radiotherapy happened that was supposed to help his brain recover more, instead it made it worse so much worse. He started attacking mum, falling etc and soon mum just couldn't cope anymore, after a stroke in late 2024 he went into hospital and never came home .... Now he is completely bedridden, in nappies full time, is asleep most of the time, and most of the time doesn't know me, but no matter what I will walk.31 miles for him on crutches using my stick whatever as he is worth every painful step I take, my health issues will not beat me ....
I will do it for him !!!
Here's to you dad Max xx
