I'm walking 30 miles in September
I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.
I am doing this in memory of my Dad. Dementia is such a cruel disease and it was so horrible to see Dad go downhill so far last year. A clever, lovely, kind, caring and thoughtful man locked away inside himself. I always held on to the hope he did recognise me and understand some of what I said so just kept having conversations with him. Even when his face seemed to be totally blank I could often just raise a small smile or see a twinkle in his eyes. I made my family laugh when I once said to dad ‘Just try to remember’. But you never know….. I will remember him every mile I walk.
All funds raised will go to this great cause. Support for carers is vitally important as caring for someone living with dementia is a full time job.
An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.
Thank you!
