I'm walking 30 Miles in September for Dementia UK
Some people call it the longest goodbye and it is . I have slowly said Goodbye to little parts of my Mum bit by bit over the past few years until most of what made her who she was has gone. Our usual chats where she asks about my life or laughs over a memory we made together are a thing of the past and so I miss her even though she’s still here. Being responsible for finding her the best care, organising her finances, selling her home and making her medical decisions is devastating and something nobody can prepare you for and there’s no guide on what to do. I was told by the hospital by email she had finally been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and then that was it find your own way through the mess and hope you don’t do it wrong. So I’m walking 30 miles in September in her honour to fundraise for Dementia UK
Your donation, big or small, makes a huge difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.
