This May, I'm walking 31 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.
Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Doing it for my Nan 🌻
Saturday 2nd MayI’m raising money to fight dementia. It is a cruel, relentless disease that’s stolen my nan, Avis, from us piece by piece. For a long time, my family cared for her at home, doing everything they could to keep her safe and surrounded by love whilst sacrificing their own needs to put her first. My mom, aunt, and uncle have been (and continue to be) the most devoted children. However, dementia takes more than memory; it takes strength, time, and eventually, the person you knew. It also affects the whole family.
Now Nan is in full-time care. She no longer knows who we are. She never really understood that Grandad, her world, passed away two years ago. Watching her slip away like this has been heartbreaking, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone else’s family.
I found myself looking around her room at pictures of a full life once lived that has now resorted to a bed. I felt so helpless, I needed to do something, even something so small. So, I’m doing this in her name. To honour who she was, to stand with everyone walking the same hard road, and to help fund better care, support, and research for a cure, because no one should have to see someone they love disappear like this.
