I’m walking 30 Miles in September and raising funds for families affected by dementia. I would be grateful for your support.

An £8 donation could cover the telephone costs of two families seeking support through Dementia UK's free Helpline. £33 could fund an hour with a dementia specialist Admiral Nurse, helping a family with practical solutions and emotional support.

When we think of the word Dementia- I think the perception is that ‘it’s just forgetting things’. I think I was certainly guilty of that perception until my entire world got spun on its head last October. After a significant battle of trying to get help and be seen, we had the diagnosis that my Mum had Mixed Dementia- this is a combination of Vascular, and Alzheimer’s.  
I can definitely confirm that it’s not just ‘forgetting things’, it’s significant behavioural changes, it’s watching the person you love diminishing knowing what is to come and its feeling the impact of it every single day.  The challenge is a mile a day, I’m going to do 5k a day, be it running, walking, rowing, whatever it looks like. I’m also hoping on the odd day that she can, my Mum will come and walk a little of the way with me🧡
