My walk in January
Tuesday 16th DecIn January, I’ll be walking 50 miles for my Nanny Iris to raise money in support and to create awareness for Dementia UK.
This is a cause that is really special to us as our Nan is currently living in a nursing home with dementia. I think that this is a good way of showing her how much I love her and the money raised will go towards research, care and support for the 55 million people and families that are currently affected by dementia worldwide.
Dementia has slowly changed the person that we know and love. It steals memories, moments and pieces of someone’s life, but it will never take away who nan is to us. Watching someone that you love live with dementia is heartbreaking in ways that you never expect. It affects not just the person but everyone around them.
My brother recently swam 30km in November (doubling his target) and raised over £500 towards this cause. This walk is for Nanny Iris and to hopefully top this total up to over £1000 towards Dementia UK.
I will be dragging my mom, Ez and Aluna along with me for the walks (because if you know me the only place I walk is to the pub) and anyone else who wants to join me is more than welcome.
