I'm walking 31 Miles in May for Dementia UK

This May, I'm walking 31 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

It wasn't until I was about to embark on my first walk towards completing 31 miles that I realised that I'd left Birmingham 31 years ago.   The reason for me to take on this challenge was down to my childhood neighbour who had unfortunately passed away recently after as two year battle with vascular dementia.    I have another childhood friend who's currently caring for her father who is also going through this challenging phase of their life.  Then to hear a family member who's barely into their 60's is experiencing the early stages made me realise I had to do something. 

31 miles may not seem like a challenge to some but when you're someone who hasn't exercised for years it is very much a challenge but nothing compared to the people living with Dementia every day.  I want to thank all of my supporters so far for helping me reach my target and my aim is to keep going and see if I can surpass 31 miles this month.
