Walk 50 Miles in January 2026

I'm walking 50 Miles in January for Dementia UK

This January, I'm walking 50 Miles and raising funds to help ensure no family faces dementia alone. I'm taking on the challenge for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, and would be grateful for your support.

Your donation, big or small, makes a difference. £33 could fund a new dementia specialist Admiral Nurse to spend an hour helping a family in the community, offering practical solutions and emotional support to cope with their loved one’s distressed behaviour.

Thank you!

What can I say!
Loads :)
Walk home from work every day, can I sneak an extra 1 mile in the morning, not really but I did.
What have I learnt from this week?
Bowels and bladder control!
Hips are beyond disparate, can I figure how not to female swing a hip, I think not!.
Will I continue to walk home every night this week coming, YES, I will.
I will continue, my dad cannot experience any of my pain, twinges, any of the  random cyclist without  bells and lamps, the poorly kept pathways in Corby will not stand in my way.
Please donate, 'cos it is what is going to push me through next week.

Day 2 of 31

Friday 2nd Jan
Not so swift 2 miles.

Day 1

Thursday 1st Jan
Just 2.65m in. Bit fresh out on the tops, especially walking against the wind!

Candid few lines of why...

Sunday 28th Dec
Gosh,  2025 has been one hard year.  A year that many family members who share their life's with others that have to live with Dementia may resonate some or all of our experiences.

Dad was diagnosed back in 2023 and we had a slow roller coaster ride , it would be about 13 months ago, that I had the last truly interactive conversation with Dad and then bit by bit Dementia took a tighter grip,  culminating on the eve of mine and my daughters Buckingham Palace Garden Party jaunt.
Dad, went for a walk, he chose or rather the Dementia chose a route where he stumbled and was not found for 15 hours, neither search and rescue,  police search teams proved successful; until a kindly, active, knowledgeable local spotted his walking stick.
We got Dad back but alas not home, he was cared for by an exemplary team. A team that our family can regard as part of our family,  now.
Then the final irrevocable change. Dad took his last breath.

That's just a bit and more about why I find myself here. Dad loved a challenge, I do but I am less than motivated,  well up with tears at times
I need to make a small difference and by taking part in this challenge, the guidance, the care, the knowledge can be extended to any person that has to walk alongside a Dementia diagnosis.
