Walk 31 Miles in May 2026

31 Miles, Countless Reasons

This May, I’ve signed up to walk 31 miles for Dementia UK—a small challenge with a deeply personal meaning.

Dementia has touched our family in a way many will understand. My father-in-law, Nick, passed away in October 2025. While dementia wasn’t the cause of his passing, it was part of his journey. More recently, in January 2026, my mother-in-law, Beryl, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, a form of dementia.

This walking challenge is my way of doing something—however small—to honour both Nick and Beryl and to raise awareness and support for families going through similar experiences. It’s also for my husband, Darren, who has been navigating this with strength and love.

According to Alzheimer's Research UK, “1 in 3 people born in the UK today will develop dementia in their lifetime.” It’s something many of us will encounter in our lives, often through someone close to us.

Dementia UK does incredible work through its Admiral Nurses, helping families feel supported and understood when they need it most. I’m proud to be raising money for such an important cause.

If you’d like to support my walk, I’d be very grateful. Every mile, every share, and every donation helps make a difference—and that’s something worth walking for.
